Burleson is a city located in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 36,690. It is a suburb of Fort Worth and is located within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Burleson was founded in 1881 and named after Rufus Columbus Burleson, a president of Baylor University. The city has a total area of 26.1 square miles, of which, 25.9 square miles is land and 0.2 square miles is water. Burleson is home to numerous parks, including Chisenhall Park, Bailey Lake Park, and the Pirate Park. It also has a growing downtown area with shops, restaurants, and a community center. The Burleson Independent School District serves the city, which includes two high schools, Burleson High School and Centennial High School.
